Eligibility
In accordance with Federal regulations, applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident AND
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Chadron State College AND
- Demonstrate a strong need for academic support AND
- Meet one or more of the following:
- Be a first generation college student (neither parent/guardian has a 4-year degree)
- Have a documented disability
- Have financial need based on U.S. Federal Income Requirements
Students are encouraged to complete an application so that SSS Staff can review and determine eligibility.

The term "low-income individual" means an individual whose family's taxable income for the preceding year did not exceed 150 percent of the poverty level amount.
The figures shown under family income represent amounts equal to 150 percent of the family income levels established by the Census Bureau for determining poverty status. The 2025 poverty guidelines are in effect as of January 15, 2025. Federal Register on January 17, 2025.
